Darkroom • $15 per hour, Includes Basic Chemistry

Aurora’s darkroom is the perfect place to get lost in analog photography and let your creativity come alive.

Our renovated, spacious darkroom features three roomy enlarger bays, a 100-inch darkroom sink with updated filtration and temperature control systems, and excellent ventilation.

In our darkroom, you can develop your own black & white and color film, 35mm to 8 x 10, and make black & white prints up to 20 x 24 in trays.

Basic Ilford chemistry for developing and printing black & white film and paper, plus CineStill chemistry for developing color film, is included in the price of the rental.

Basic darkroom equipment is also included in the price of the rental and includes:

* Beseler 23C II enlarger with Dual Dichro S head
* Beseler 45MX enlarger
* Beseler 45MCRX enlarger
* All enlargers have multi-grade filter packs and are on height-adjustable tables for accessibility
* Easels up to 16 x 20 with capacity to tilt enlarger head for larger prints
* Metal and plastic reels (35-120mm), dunk holders and tank (4 x 5), trays (4 x 5 and larger)
* Tray processing up to 20 x 24 inches
• Archival print washers and drying racks
* Film drying cabinet

* Adobe Creative Suite 2025
* Epson V850 flatbed scanner
* Canon Pro 1000 (prints up to 17 x 22”)
* Canon Pro 4600 (prints up to 44” wide)
* Color managed workflow and custom paper profiles for stocked papers
* Daylight balanced viewing area

DIY Archival Inkjet Printing

For printing only there is no rental fee.

For printing on Aurora’s Canon Pro 1000 (up to 17 x 22”), members can bring their own paper or choose from Aurora’s available papers, which include Moab Juniper Baryta Rag 305 and Moab Entrada Rag 300.

For printing on Aurora’s Canon Pro 4600, we have a variety of papers available in various widths including Moab Entrada Rag Bright 290, Canon Peel-and-Stick 260, and Moab Juniper Baryta Rag 305. Please inquire about specific papers when reserving your time on the printer.

Prints are billed by final paper size using the following calculation:

(Height x Width) x (Sq. in. price) = Cost of print

* Paper provided: $0.09 / Sq. in.
* Client provided paper: $0.05 / Sq. in.

Policies

You must be an Aurora PhotoCenter member and have a signed liability waiver on file in order to use any of the Aurora PhotoCenter workspaces. Misuse or damage to the facility or equipment, use of unapproved or dangerous chemicals or materials, or violations of Aurora’s Code of Expectations will be addressed immediately and could result in revoking of membership. Payment for workspace rental or services is due upon completion of the rental or service.
